Denver in spring

Wednesday, Mar 21, 1945

Mommy wrote home, “The first day of spring in Denver was one that was made by the Gods – the bluest sky, the softest air, and the nicest smells.” I got to play outside all day. Mommy and Essie took turns keeping an eye on me. Mommy’s so happy to have her friend Essie here. She wrote, “Her presence has such a pleasure and she helps us so much without appearing to do so. She helps a lot in the kitchen and even fixes the beds in the morning! But that is not the only reason I shall miss her. It is because she is such a remarkably good friend and so warm.”
