Back to Connecticut

Monday, Mar 12, 1945

Our first letter from Grandma and Grandpa since they got home. Apparently they just made it into Grand Central from Chicago with five minutes to spare to catch the train to Bridgeport. Closing the store for so long meant losing a lot of sales but Grandma wrote, “It was more than worth it.” Grandpa added,” The 20 hours to Bridgeport with only one cheese sandwich for the both of us did not make a dent in our volume of accumulated happiness with you, dear children. The flight to Chicago from Denver did much to cushion the blow of our departure – and what scenery to the north!”
