Peace, prosperity, and freedom

Friday, Mar 2, 1945

After listening to President Roosevelt’s address yesterday, Mommy and Daddy are reading the transcript of the speech with wonder. There will be a world charter of peace, freedom, and prosperity. “There can be no middle ground here,” the President declared as he introduced a new league of nations. How wonderful to contemplate the end of war and a hopeful future. And it may be here soon as our troops smash deeper and deeper into Germany. One concern: The President was wheeled into the joint session of Congress and gave his speech while seated in an armchair. Is he okay?

Light the Sabbath candles.
