Daytime Nightmares

“Your night letter arrived today,” Mommy just wrote. It contained incredible news: Daddy is being sent back to the Denver VA! “Gee, I’m jealous of you. I guess I just miss those 4-day road trips,” she added, “I called Brooklyn and told them.” What’s frightening now is how our troops are bogged down in Europe. “The radio is a depressing instrument these days,” Mommy continued. “The bad news is not just a nightmare to vanish in the morning but it gets worse all the time.”
