What to expect at Camp Ellis

Monday, Nov.13, 1944

The first day’s drive from Denver to Pennsylvania was almost like a pleasure trip. We have to cover 1000 miles but we made good time until Illinois, where it was very cloudy. Daddy doesn’t know much but he does know this about Camp Ellis: “This camp specializes in organizing field hospitals. Therefore I assume that I am going to be put in a field hospital and I will be sent overseas in a few weeks or maybe 2 months. That’s all I can tell you because that’s all I know about it myself.”
