“Join the fight”

Thursday, June 22, 19441944_The Daily Times, MD_p.4_June 22

Our Pacific fleet destroyed 14 Japanese ships without losing a single vessel! And it looks as if the Germans have lost up to 100,000 men in Italy. On the home front, mine, that is, my father has gotten in touch with his commanding officer at Walter Reed about housing. We may be in luck: a house just became available in Takoma Park. That’s not too far away from the hospital and it would have a yard for me to play in — and for a real Victory Garden. My mother is looking pleased. She’ll have a place to hang out my diapers!
