“Food is a war weapon”

1944 Morning Herlad, Hagerstown_p.3_June 21Wednesday, June 21, 1944

Coming through Maryland, we picked up a paper. Same concerns but a different perspective. This time of year farmers worry about crops. But it’s more than just concern about feeding Americans. Food is war weapon, a key commodity in supporting workers and fighters as well as the general population. Plus there’s all the food we’re shipping abroad to allies that can’t produce enough for themselves. And the fight is going on and on. While our troops have almost reached Cherbourg, the Japanese fleet is out in force in the Pacific. A showdown is coming!
