May 1994: The new normal

1944_Fitzimons_picnicFriday, May 26, 1944

Life has settled into a pattern. We see my father off to work in the morning and then in the afternoon, if it’s nice, we take a bus to the hospital. We have a picnic on the lawn and my father comes out to visit with us. Then it’s home again for a nap (for me) and some writing (for my mother). In baseball – yes, baseball goes on, even in wartime – the Philadelphia Athletics defeated the Detroit Tigers at Briggs Stadium. It’s all calm and quiet while overseas the bombing and fighting goes on without end.

Light the Sabbath candles.
