There was an epic air battle over Berlin yesterday as the Luftwaffe mounted a fierce response to Allied bombing raids. The closer we get to the heartland of the Reich, the tougher the battles. Flying Fortresses were going down in fierce dogfights against German Focke-Wulfs. And 200 Greek communists were executed at an Athens rifle range today by Nazi occupation authorities. My grandfather listens the radio news with a set look on his face. Are the Nazis desperate? Or acting from strength? Meanwhile, the suitcases are still out but they’re empty.
