Ronald Reagan and Shere Khan

Monday, April 24, 1944

Good news: my mother came down for breakfast! Bad news: the suitcases are out again. So far, though, no signs of packing. Are we going to my grandma’s in New York? Going back to Carlisle Barracks? I’m just starting to get used to this place and the dog. And I love hearing the stories about Mowgli and Shere Khan, the tiger. While grandpa was telling me more “Jungle Book” stories, our 8th Fighter Air Force Command along with the RAF waged a huge battle with the Luftwaffe over Munich. A young captain named Ronald Reagan instructs pilots in combat formations.
