Cobra killers, really

mongoose_04Sunday, April 23, 1944

Why name a dog for a mongoose? Grandpa explained that our Rikki-Tikki-Tavi is as brave and fearless as a mongoose. In India, a mongoose can attack and kill a cobra. Today is better than yesterday. My mother is still in bed but Grandma let me see her. She is pale and weak. A doctor Mongoose_01came yesterday and said she won’t have to go to a hospital. I think someone called my father. No local paper today but we listened to the news. The Reds continuing driving west and may reach the heart of the Reich in a week! So maybe my father won’t be posted to Europe. In Asia, the Brits halted the Japanese push into Burma. People around me keep saying the tide is turning, whatever that means.
