1944_Harrisburg_p.7_Apr 12You’d never guess it from this ad but “Ladies Courageous” is about brave female pilots in the Air Transport Command who fly bombers from the factories where they were built to their destinations. Starring Loretta Young and Geraldine Fitzpatrick, it is based on 1941 novel “Looking for Trouble” by Virginia Spencer Cowles. The movie shows how women are making victory possible. Meanwhile, the Navy has asked for a lot of money to strengthen the Pacific fleet in the fight against Japan. Total cost of war effort since 1940 is about $350,000,000,000.
