Jim Thorpe and Pop Warner: Carlisle Greats

I’m not much of a football fan — yet.  But my parents are and they’re excited to learn more about nearby Carlisle Indian Industrial School. This school is famous for football greats such as Jim Thorpe, 1912 Olympic Gold Medal winner and all-round star athlete, and his coach Gene “Pop” Warner, who trained his team to hold its own against better equipped rivals. But the school is infamous for trying to eradicate Native American culture and language.
