Reporting for Duty!

Saturday March 25, 1944

No more Sabbath evenings with the album. We’re on our way to Carlisle Barracks in Pennsylvania. My mother had a tearful phone call with her parents. She packed real fast gathering clothes and other things together. She’ll set us up at the Grand View Hotel near the barracks. We’re lucky. At least we can be together as a family – at least until my father gets his final orders. We know he’ll be sent overseas. East to Europe? West to the Pacific? My life is about to be turned upside down.
