“Oh, Yeah?” Hitler misjudges the Russians

1944 Oh yeah_Daily Eagle_Mar 15_p.11Tuesday March 15, 1944

How much news can one person absorb! The Allies have launched an offensive at Cassino while the Russian close yet another trap around an isolated Nazi force. The onslaught must be a shock to the Nazis given their contempt for Slavs. And just as they have discounted the pool of Allied “man”power, they made a major mistake assuming Russia had no reserves left by 1943. So much for military “intelligence.” In the Pacific Marines have won a foothold on Rabaul. But the big news in today’s Brooklyn Daily Eagle is that the Boro has discovered and exposed a huge black market operation for gasoline.
