Strong words on Racism

Screen Shot 2016-02-13 at 5.57.01 PMMayor Fiorello LaGuardia officially welcomed 21 Negro air navigation cadets to City Hall. “It isn’t the outside of a man’s skin that counts. It’s what’s inside that counts,” he announced according to the Brooklyn Daily Eagle. Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt visited a local just visited a Negro church to speak out against prejudice. The radio will be turned off tomorrow for the Sabbath and won’t be turned on again until Saturday at sundown. So, my parents and the other grownups are gathered round now listening to the latest war news. In Europe, the Nazis are throwing everything they have at the Allies outside of Rome. They are attacking in wave after wave as the Allies hold firm. On the eastern front, the Russians have closed the trap on 120,000 Germans and are killing them with bayonets, rifle butts – anything they can use.
