Princess on the potty

Thursday Jan. 20, 1944

1944_on the potty_JanI’m potty trained already! At least that’s what my mother writes in a gushing letter to her parents. How embarrassing to have this recorded for posterity. (But at least there are no videos or apps such as Instagram to spread the word.) Speaking of babies, Princess Margaret of the Netherlands celebrated her first birthday yesterday. Poor kid. She may be royalty but her family is living in exile in England. In 1940, the Nazis attacked Holland without provocation. They killed people and destroyed even though the country surrendered. Now her family is biding its time till the war is over, kind of like mine. Will life ever be normal?
