1944_Brooklyn Eagle_p18On the Home Front, Clair Engle’s proposal to restore Prohibition has really hit a nerve, as this editorial cartoon from the Brooklyn Eagle today shows. I picked the Brooklyn Eagle because I’m still here with my parents, plus it’s practically a hometown newspaper to my father’s family. In the European Front, the Red Army has established a second front in Poland, thanks to US supplies. And Allies are skeptical of Goebbels warning that Germany has Uranium torpedoes 50 times more powerful than dynamite. In the Pacific Front, the news is sobering. At a Los Angeles parley, Army and Navy spokesmen have warned that Japan is stronger now than at the time of Pearl Harbor.
