Arabs and Jews Before the Holocaust

Thursday, Sept. 30, 1943

The news from Europe was especially good as Lois and Abe prepared to celebrate the Jewish High Holy days. As Jews marked the end of year 5703, Allies smashed the Nazi line in Naples while the Russians seized a key Nazi fortress on the Dnieper River. It was even reported that the Germans had put restrictions on their use of coal. Of great significance, too, Allies had lifted discriminatory regulations the Nazis had imposed on Jews in liberated North Africa. Even today, with so much information available about WWII, few are aware of how deeply entwined Jews and Arabs once were in this part of the world or of the Nazi Holocaust there.
