Fidelity and marriage, fidelity in marriage

Sept. 11, 1943Saturday, Sept. 11, 1943

A year ago today, Lois and Abe went down to Chicago’s City Hall and were married by a Justice of the Peace. They celebrated with friends and then called their families. As I recorded in my blog a year ago today, Abe’s mother responded with disapproving silence, Lois’ parents with grudging approval. Now they were truly a family. I don’t know which of them typed up this poem. Much the worse for wear, it speaks volumes about their love.
