Who’s got my beer?

Coffee rationing might be easing but where, Americans wanted to know, was the beer and other alcohol? As this picture shows, American civilians were experiencing a kind of de facto Prohibition as supplies of alcohol were directed to the military. But probably not for much longer. Is Italy really seeking truce? Is Hitler really on his way out? If so, the war could end before the year ends! Adding some merriment to anticipation was news that Hitler had given him a set of the works of the philosopher Nietzsche. Mussolini’s motto, “Live Dangerously,” was inspired by Nietzsche. The philosopher’s dream of future race of masculine heroes, “Ubermensch,” was an inspiration to Hitler.
