The quest for Mim’s high chair paid off. Lois mother first tried to find one through her wholesalers, then by visiting warehouses herself. Finally, she sent a newspaper ad, quoted above, to Mim warning her, “If you like it, I might be able to obtain it for you. Please let me know at once because we might be too late even for that one.” You could probably find something like this today in a flea market. But would you want it even at this price? It certainly looks handsome. But you couldn’t fold it up. It wouldn’t hold a car seat. Worst of all, you couldn’t just hose it down when it got dirty. We’ve come a long way, baby!
Time to light the Sabbath candles.
