Churchill: “Don’t take your eye off the ball!”

There was no vacation from politics despite the war. The big issue: Would Roosevelt run for a fourth term. Would it even be allowed? Food rationing and hoarding took a back seat to this question as the primaries approached. Recent British successes in Burma were a back page item. Only Churchill’s speech broadcast from London at 3 PM CST could provide some distraction. In this, the coldest winter since 1904, might as well gather around the radio and listen.
