Second Trimester: Hairstyles for Victory

Here’s how American women could help the war effort: cut their hair short. Short hair would be flattering but more practical for women in war work. So decreed the stylists at the annual Midwest Beauty Trade Show in Chicago. The ideal length would be 4-7 inches, slightly longer in the front than in the back. Last year’s feather edge or “baby haircut” would no longer be practical. Waves, not curls, will be the look of the moment.
