“Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman”: Cinebaloney!

Representative Clare Booth Luce had inadvertently launched a meme when she said “Globaloney.” The word was morphing to serve all kinds of purposes, as in this scathing review of “Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman” with Bela Lugosi, Lon Chaney, Jr, and the cleanest peasants you ever saw. [Truth in reporting – I vaguely remember being really scared when I saw it in the mid-1950’s. Watch the trailer — link above — and decide for yourself.] It wasn’t a great movie, to be sure. But it was harmless fun at a time when the Rommel was in full rout but the war showed no signs of ending.
